"These students are fired up for Jesus Christ and making an impact on their campus" stated Jake Vanada, West Metro FCA Director.  "I get to have a front row seat to see their raw passion and zeal for the Lord and for reaching their friends.  FCA is such an incredible vehicle the Lord has provided for us to make a big difference for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ at local public high schools."  Praise God.

One incredible moment put it all into perspective for Vanada this year at the ERX National in Elk River, Minnesota.  "We were given permission to do a prayer during the opening ceremonies right before the national anthem was sung, right in front of nearly 10,000 people.  God is good and He gets the credit for all the amazing things that happened that day."

 "We are so thankful for FCA and for Jake Vanada's willingness to invest their time and resources into the riders of our sport." stated Jesse Strege, Assistant Race Director for ISOC.  "Each week the short FCA Athlete Challenge and the prayer over the riders were amazing.  For these riders to have some spiritual encouragement and hear truth--it was awesome."

West Metro FCA plans on continuing to help invest in the riders of ISOC and be available to walk through any door the Lord would open.

In it's 2nd year, West Metro FCA's Fall Football Tour was another huge success.  Bringing the presence and power of the Cross of Jesus Christ "TO THE GAME" has continued to prove to be an incredibly successful and beneficial event for the ministry.  "Our whole goal as a ministry is to impact these local schools with presence and power of Jesus Christ" stated Jake Vanada, West Metro FCA Area Director.  "When we show up at a game and hang out with kids, athletes, parents, and staff from the school, we get to say a lot, without really saying anything."  Anchored by the West Metro FCA trailer, with its world-class stunning graphics (see pics below) the Fall Football Tour has a loud presence each and every week.  "The looks I get just driving down the road with this trailer are impressive.  Many times I see people point, sometimes they even honk and give me a thumbs up."

For 2011 West Metro FCA added a custom designed and printed EZ Up Tent, thanks to a generous donation from a local donor.  This tent, along with the trailer and some thumping loud and fun music has made the 2011 version of the Fall Football Tour even more appealing and attention grabbing.

Plans are already being made for the 2012 Tour.  FCA is proud to bring the Cross of Jesus Christ into the public schools athletic events to encourage athletes, promote great sportsmanship, and expose the community to who we are and what we do.

4th Annual Motorcycle Prayer Tour -- August 31, 2011

In its 4th year, the 2011 Motorcycle Prayer Tour will be "roaring" into schools all over the West Metro on Wednesday August 31.  Combining the key passions of motorcycles, Jesus Christ and prayer, and teenagers, the West Metro Motorcycle Prayer Tour has become a mainstay in the ministry of FCA in the West Metro.  "I believe in prayer" states Jake Vanada, West Metro Area Director.  "I also believe that when we give people the chance to ride and pray at schools, it unlocks things, it brings power down...big time power.  For me, when we ride in on powerful and polished bikes, it makes a statement.  When we circle up and pray for students, staff, and coaches, it makes a statement." The Motorcycle Prayer Tour is just one way that West Metro FCA continues to find unique and exciting ways for people to be involved in this incredible ministry.

2011 FCA Sporstman Challenge a HIT!

On August 5, 2011, West Metro FCA together with WildMarsh SportingClays pulled off the 1st ever FCA Sportsman Shooting Challenge.  Over 40 shooters came out for what turned out to be an incredible day with bright sunshine, blue skies, and the erupting blasts of shot guns breaking through the silence of the premier courses WildMarsh had laid out for us.  Great food, great friends, strong competition were all key ingredients to the day. 

A huge thank you to our title sponsor, Cornerstone Auto Resource of Elk River.  "We were excited to come and be a part of this," remarked Jon Berg of Cornerstone.  "I have chances all the time to play in golf tournaments, but this is the first shooting challenge event I have seen.  We are thankful to be able to sponsor this event with this organization (FCA) and have had a blast being here."  Another key sponsor of this event was Sportech Inc. also of Elk River.  "We are proud to sponsor the FCA Sportsman Challenge," said Chris Carlson, owner of Sportech.  "The competition has been fantastic, and the Lord blessed us with a truly incredible day."  West Metro FCA would like to thank our Title and Event Sponsors for their support.  We would also like to thank Antleritis, a station sponsor, for stepping up and helping sponsor the event in its very first year.

Plans are already being made for the 2012 Event.  To a man, the participants who were lucky enough to be there this year are all looking forward to being back next year for "YEAR 2" of the FCA Sportsman Shooting Challenge.

About the Interns:  

My name is Kate Freiheit and I attend George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. I am majoring in Biblical studies and fitness management. I run cross country and track for the Bruins. My track events range from the 800,1500, and the 500 meters. I am currently working towards focusing on the 3000 metersteeplechase next year, which I am very excited for! I grew up in the small town of Hayfield, Minnesota where my love of sports grew and I found my love of running. I also enjoy reading, photography, and playing guitar. This summer I am excited for the FCA Velocity mini-camps and meeting with local high school student-athletes and getting them excited about FCA. This internship is an opportunity to combine both my faith in Jesus Christ and my love of sports and use the platform I have as an athlete to reach people with the kingdom of God! 

My name is Kevin Klingbiel. I am a senior at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. I am dual majoring at Crown with a major in sports management and also in biblical studies. I play wide receiver for Crown and I am extremely excited about my role on the team. My home town is Iowa City, Iowa. After talking to me many of you might wonder where my (some call weird) accent comes from. I spent 16 years growing up in the Washington D.C. area. The accent comes from having aunts and uncles from Minnesota, grandparents from Wisconsin, and friends from the east coast. I am super excited to spend my summer working with Jake and Kate. One event that I am extremely excited for is the Sportsman Challenge. The combination of guns, men (and women), and Jesus Christ... I don't know what could be much better. This summer is going to rock! Tie up your shoes, tighten up your belts, and hold on to your sunglasses because this summer is going to change the game in the West Metro.

WEST METRO FCA -- HEART OF THE GAME 2010 FALL FOOTBALL TOUR

West Metro FCA has been busy this fall.  We are very excited about the 2010 FALL FOOTBALL TOUR.

Every Friday Night this Fall, the West Metro FCA Fall Football Tour has been at local games promoting great sportsmanship, our OneWay2Play Drug and Alcohol Free Program, and the ministry of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  The anchor of this event is our brand new FCA Trailer which was purchased and produced this summer in preparation for this event.  Each week, the tour gets better and better as we figure out how to connect with fans, the community, and the students.  One AD at a recent school walked up to the West Metro Director, Jake Vanada, shook his hand and said, "Thank you so much for coming tonight.  It was great to have you guys here.  Thanks for all you guys do."   The amount of exposure we are seeing with this unprecedented idea is phenomenal.  Thousands and thousands of people have already seen us and heard what we are doing, and we are only half way through the season.

Minnesota FCA has just wrapped up the 2010 FCA Leadership Camp.  The Camp was a huge hit, breaking expectations of Camp Director Jake Vanada, as well as many other Minnesota FCA Staff.

James 5:16 says that the "fervant prayer of the righteous man accomplishes much." We believe strongly in the power of prayer at FCA. We are excited to combine the passion of riding motorcycles, with the passion for prayer and seeing teenagers, coaches, athletes, and whole campuses impacted for the King of Kings. That is what this is all about.

"Two years ago, we had an idea to do this," explains Jake Vanada, Twin Cities Area Director. "In year one there were only two of us, and one guy canceled so I went by myself. Last year we had 6 riders go including local Christian Radio (KTIS) Morning Show Host David Christian, who is a long time friend and brother in the Lord. When you combine peoples passion for riding with their passion for the Lord, it is truly an incredible thing" continued Jake.

This year FCA is expecting an even bigger turn out as the word continues to spread about this unique way of growing the ministry of FCA and ultimately building the Kingdom of God.

FCA is proud to partner with Zylstra Harley Davidson in Elk River to bring this event to the West Metro of the Twin Cities. Zylstra Harley is a top notch Harley Davidson Dealership with excellent service and some strong men and women of faith, who also seem to really like Harley's!

Both Teams of Riders will meet at Joe Sensor's for lunch and to share stories about the ride, the prayers, and the fun.  Event should conclude at approximately 1:30PM

Planned Schools (not necessarily in order). Elk River, Rogers, STMA, Monticello, Buffalo, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Chaska, Chanhassen, Waconia, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Edina, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Osseo, Maple Grove, Champlin Park.

Twin Cities FCA is currently seeking to build its staff by adding a very key individual to the team. We are looking to add an administrative assistant to help grow and expand this ministry. This is an exciting step for us and we are encouraged by what God continues to do as we see this ministry grow and expand.

 Minnesota Vikings Defensive Cordinator and Assistant Head Coach Leslie Frazier together with Twin Cities FCA pulls off amazing first year camp. 

65 Athletes. 8 Coaches.  7 College Football Players (Bethel and U of M).  8 Minnesota Vikings Players.  All with one message about faith.  It was an incredible day on June 5th to see first hand the action on the field.  Local athletes walked into the Vikings indoor practice field with eyes wide in wonder and awe as they were about to practice on the same turf as the famed Minnesota Vikings.  Registration for this first year camp went smooth and flawless with each player receiving a t-shirt and a ticket to a pre-season Vikings Game. 

Velocity Sport Performance was on hand to warm up the youth athletes (grades 6-9).  Over 40 minutes of world class instruction by Velocity's highly trained and incredibly gifted performance coaches (http://www.velocitysp.com/champlin).  After the camp was split into offense and defense, the real football work began.  Much to the amazement of the camp athletes, Chad Greenway #52 and J Leman #57, both Line Backers for the Vikes, showed up and not only taught the Linebacker Station, running the drills, but also shared their faith in Christ and their love for the Lord.   Another player making a huge impact both with his testimony, and his coaching was Benny Sapp #22.  Benny worked with the running backs and defensive backs and shared his love for the Lord as well.

Coach Johnson from Bethel University dropped some incredible truth on the youth athletes, other coaches, and pro-players as well.  He challenged them in a unique, passionate, and incredibly powerful way to become the men God has created them to be.

 Finally, Coach Frazier shared at the end of the premier one day camp.  After coaching all day and working with our college players and coaches as well, Coach Frazier poured into these kids with a genuineness and an undeniable passion for Christ.  His message was clear, it was powerful coming from a two time Super Bowl Champion, once as a player with the Chicago Bears, and then recently as a coach with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007.  Coach Frazier told the athletes and parents that their faith in Christ is the most important thing in their life.  As kids looked up at him, sitting on the very turf that the Vikings practice on, it was a moment that put the Lord Jesus Christ at the forefront of the whole day.

Twin Cities FCA is very thankful for all those who made this first year camp a huge success.  We are already working on things for next years "Coach Frazier FCA Football Camp" in 2011.

Traditionally, Buffalo FCA has been one of the strongest and most solid FCA Huddle we have in the West Metro area of the Twin Cities.  Lead by two rockstar coaches (Coach Peterson and Coach Eggers), this huddle continues to thrive year after year.  I had the chance to be there for the last huddle meeting of their year and was approached by a female athlete named Calli.  She asked me if I would be willing to read a prayer that she had written.  The next day, I read the prayer that she emailed to me. 

 I was blown away.  This is an amazing and powerfully authentic prayer.  Because of the impact it had on me when I read it, I decided (with Calli's permission) to share it with all of you.  Take a look.  God is at work in the lives of these young athletes just like Calli...

Just Announced: OSSEO FCA INVITES PAUL CARTER TO SPEAK AT ATHLETE OUTREACH RALLY

At 7:30PM on Friday, April 30th, Osseo FCA will put on a FCA Outreach for the entire student body at Osseo High School in Osseo, Minnesota.  Paul Carter from the University of Minnesota's Men's Basketball Team will be speaking and sharing his faith and his life with the students.

It all started when a group of Sr. Students were challenged by Twin Cities FCA Director Jake Vanada to do something big for God before they graduate.  God used this simple challenge to bring a passion to do something to a group of students at Osseo FCA.  After getting permission to use the football field, these students got to work on all the details to plan this rally.  One of the students, a senior commented "Jake, what do we have to lose, in a little over a month, we all graduate."  She really "gets it" and God is using her and others just like her to bring His message to this campus.

What does FCA a 2nd Grade Public School Teacher and a local Youth Pastor have in Common?  Read on!!

Recently Jake Vanada, Twin Cities Director for FCA, spoke at a Jr. High FCA Huddle in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  It was a wild night with 50-60 7th and 8th Grade Students in the room.  Food, wild Jr. High guys and girls, toilet paper mummy games--whewy, can you feel the energy?   God showed up and many students (over 40) prayed to receive Christ as their Savior that night. 

That night, a 7th grade girl went home and told her mom all about what happened.  "She told me everything, every last detail" the mom commented. 

For most of this school year, a local youth pastor from a large church in the area has been trying to connect with his 2nd grade son's teacher.  Wanting to encourage her and let her know how supportive he and his family are of the work she is doing with not only their own son, but all the students at this local elementary school. 

The next day after the FCA Jr. High Huddle meeting, this youth pastor goes to the school to talk with the teacher.  She asks him if he is a youth pastor and if he has ever heard of FCA.  Of coarse he says "yes" as he has been working with and very supportive of the Sr. High huddle at Eden Prairie.  This teacher goes on to share about how her daughter "came home from FCA last night all fired up.  All she wants is a FCA Bible.  She told me I have to get her one.  Do you know where I can find one?" she asked the youth pastor.  He told her that he would get one for her and encouraged her in her faith and her work as a teacher.

This is an INCREDIBLE story of how God is using this ministry to impact the lives of teachers, coaches, student athletes, youth pastors, and our communities.  Praise God.  He gets the credit.  He gets the glory!  It is all about Jesus Christ and His Kingdom...FCA is just a tool, a vehicle that the Lord is using in powerful ways to grow and expand His Kingdom.  Gets me fired up!!
